The Town of Thompson hereby adopts the provisions of Chapter 124 of the Connecticut General Statutes.
There is hereby created a Zoning Board of Appeals in and for the Town of Thompson with all the powers and duties set forth in the General Statutes of the State of Connecticut, revision of 1958, as amended, relating to zoning boards of appeals.
The Zoning Board of Appeals shall consist of five regular members and three alternate members, who shall be electors of the Town, holding no salaried municipal office, nor shall they be members of any other elected or appointed Town board or commission. At each biennial election, members and alternates shall be elected for this Board for a term of six years to replace those whose terms are due to expire.

Vacancies occurring on the Zoning Board of Appeals shall be filled from the number of alternate members for such Board by majority vote of the remaining Board members. Vacancies occurring among the alternates shall be filled by appointment by the Select Board for the unexpired portion of such alternate's term. All vacancies shall be filled within 30 days from the date of their occurrence.
The Zoning Board of Appeals is authorized to adopt bylaws and such other procedures as may, to it, seem necessary for the efficient management of its business. A copy of any such bylaws and/or rules shall be filed with the Town Clerk before they shall become effective.
