Editor's Note: The original Section 1.0 of this chapter recites the legislative purpose as follows:
"In order to safeguard against accidental injury to persons within the Town of Hempstead, this local law is intended to prohibit bicycle riding upon or over certain structures which are intended primarily for the use of pedestrians."
For the purpose of this chapter an "overpass," "ramp" or "footbridge" shall mean a structure used for pedestrian traffic over roadways, highways, expressways, canals or waterways within the Town of Hempstead.
It shall be unlawful for any person to ride a bicycle upon or over any structure hereinabove defined as an overpass, ramp or footbridge within the Town of Hempstead.
Any person committing an offense against this chapter is guilty of a violation punishable by a fine not exceeding $25 for each such offense.
