The system of pavement markings duly adopted for state highways by the New York State Traffic Commission is hereby adopted for all streets, roads and highways of the Town of Hempstead and such markings shall have the same meaning, force and effect as provided for said markings upon state highways.
In furtherance of § 195-1 and not in limitation thereof, the following pavement markings are hereby adopted:
A. 
Single broken line. Motorist shall keep to the right of a single broken line except when overtaking and passing another vehicle or obstruction under conditions not rendering it dangerous to cross such line.
B. 
Single solid line. Motorist shall not cross a single solid line except under unusual circumstances and only when no approaching car is in sight.
C. 
Double line.
(1) 
Double solid line. No motorist shall cross a double solid line.
(2) 
Double line consisting of solid line and broken line. No motorist shall cross a double line consisting of a solid line and a broken line if the solid line is on the driver's side; and if the broken line is on the driver's side the motorist may cross such double line if safe to do so.
(3) 
The provisions of this Subdivision C shall not be deemed to prevent a motorist from entering a driveway, service station or other place of business, or in the case of an obstruction in the highway, from proceeding with reasonable caution to cross such double line.
The term "motorist" includes the operator of every contrivance used or capable of being used as a means of transportation.
An offense against any provision of this chapter shall be a violation of the chapter, which shall be punishable for the first offense by a fine not exceeding $10 or imprisonment for a period not exceeding two days, or by both such fine and imprisonment; and for the second offense, shall be punishable by a fine not exceeding $25 or imprisonment for a period not exceeding five days, or by both such fine and imprisonment; the third or any subsequent offense within one year shall be punishable by a fine not exceeding $100 or by imprisonment not exceeding 20 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.

In accordance with this Chapter the following single solid line markings are hereby established at the indicated locations:
North Merrick: Center line of Meadowbrook Road, from the northerly line of Michael William Road north for 50 feet and from the southerly line of Michael William Road south for 50 feet.
Atlantic Beach: Center line of Bay Boulevard, from the easterly line of First Street (Granada Street) easterly to the point of curve west of Atlantic Beach Bridge, except between the easterly and westerly lines of intersecting streets.
North Merrick: Center line of Washington Avenue, from the westerly line of Meadowbrook Road westerly for a distance of 50 feet.
North Merrick: Center line of Meadowbrook Road, from the northerly line of Washington Avenue northerly for 50 feet and from the southerly line of Washington Avenue southerly for 50 feet.
East Meadow: Center line of Kalda Lane, from a point 10 feet east of easterly line of May Lane easterly for a distance of 50 feet.
East Meadow: Center line of May Lane, from northerly line of Kalda Lane northerly for 50 feet.
East Meadow: Center line of Newbridge Avenue, from the northerly line of North Jerusalem Road northerly for a distance of 250 feet and from the southerly line of North Jerusalem Road southerly for a distance of 250 feet.
East Meadow: Center line of Grayson Drive, from the westerly line of Wagstaff Drive westerly to the easterly line of Bentan Drive.
Franklin Square: Along the center line of Dogwood Avenue, from the westerly line of Nassau Boulevard southwesterly and southerly to the northerly line of Cornwell Avenue, excepting between the northerly and southerly lines of all intersecting streets.
Levittown: Center line of Gardiners Avenue, from the northerly line of North Jerusalem Road to the southerly line of Hempstead Turnpike, except between the northerly and southerly lines of all intersecting streets.
North Bellmore: Center line of Bellmore Road, from the southerly line of Jerusalem Avenue southerly for a distance of 50 feet.
North Wantagh: Center line of Dunhill Road, from the westerly line of Seamans Neck Road westerly for a distance of 50 feet.
Uniondale: Center line of Uniondale Avenue, from the northerly line of Cedar Street northerly for a distance of 200 feet and from the southerly line of Cedar Street southerly for a distance of 200 feet.
Westbury (near): Midway between the center line and the easterly curbline of Newbridge Avenue, from the southerly line of Old Country Road south for a distance of 100 feet.
Woodmere: Center line of Cedar Lane, from a point 50 feet east of the apex of triangle formed by Cedar Lane and Northwood Lane, easterly to the west line of Wycoff Place.

In accordance with this Chapter the following double solid line markings are hereby established at the indicated locations:
Elmont: Center line of Covert Avenue, from the southerly line of Adams Street southerly to the northerly line of Madison Street, except between the north and south lines of intersecting streets.
Oceanside: Center line of Skillman Avenue, from the southerly line of Nantucket Lane north to the northerly line of Nantucket Lane south.
Oceanside: Center line of Oceanside Road, from the northerly line of Sunnyside Road northerly for 300 feet and from southerly line of Sunnyside Road southerly for a distance of 300 feet.
Oceanside: Center line of Eileen Road, from a point 100 feet east of point of curve to 100 feet south of point of tangency of curve on Eileen Road between Oceanside Road and Esther Place.
Wantagh: Center line of Lawrence Drive, from the southerly line of Francis Drive south to the northerly line of Allan Drive.
Woodmere: Center line of Cedar Lane, from the apex of triangle formed by Cedar Lane and Northwood Lane easterly for a distance of 50 feet.
Westbury (near): Center line of Newbridge Avenue, from the southerly line of Old Country Road south for a distance of 100 feet.
