The Town voted to combine the duties of the present Board of Water Commissioners and the present Board of Sewer Commissioners[1] into one Board of three persons to be known as the "Board of Water and Sewer Commissioners. At the Annual Election of March 1983, one member shall be elected for a one-year term; one member shall be elected for a two-year term; and one member shall be elected for a three-year term, and each year thereafter one member shall be elected for a three-year term. Upon the election and qualification of the elected members of the combined Board at the March 1983 Election, any existence of the separate Water and Sewer Boards shall terminate, and said new Board members shall succeed to all of the former Board members' duties, contracts and responsibilities.

Editor's Note: The three-member Board of Sewer Commissioners hereby terminated was created by Art. 6 of the 6-12-1972 Town Meeting.

The Town voted to authorize the Select Board to petition the Legislature for authority allowing the Town to establish the Board known as the "Water — Sewer Commissioners," created under § 185-1, which Board shall exercise the present duties and responsibilities of the Board of Water Commissioners and the Board of Sewer Commissioners.
