Historical Notes:
Article 5 of the 9-7-1906 Town Meeting accepted the provisions
of R.L. 1902 c. 208, § 9 (now MGL c. 266, § 9),
providing that the setting of fires on land not owned or controlled
by fire setter is punishable by a fine of not more than $100 or by
imprisonment in jail for not more than one month, or both; plus liability
for all damages caused thereby; and that such fine shall be equally
divided between the complainant and the Town.]
