Pursuant to Municipal Home Rule Law § 10 (1)(ii)(a)(1),
the Town of Rye hereby abolishes the elective office of Superintendent
of Highways to take effect January 1, 2020.
Upon the expiration of the term of the Superintendent of Highways,
no successor shall be elected. The expiration of the term of office
of the elective Superintendent of Highways is January 1, 2020.
The article shall supersede in its application to the Town of
Rye § 20, Subdivision 1(a), of the Town Law with respect
to the mode of selection of the Superintendent of Highways in the
Town of Rye.
This article is subject to mandatory referendum according to
the provision of § 23 of the Municipal Home Rule Law.
