Editor's Note: The preamble of this ordinance provided as follows:
Whereas, the Tort Claims Act of the State of New Jersey provides that local entities have the authority to indemnify public employees and public officials; and
Whereas, without such indemnification, public employees and public officials could not fully and adequately represent the interest of the municipalities and carry forth their duties; and
Whereas, the Township of Dennis believes it in the best interest of the Township of Dennis to provide for such indemnification.
Now therefore be it ordained, by the Township Committee of the Township of Dennis, in the County of Cape May, as follows:
The Township of Dennis shall indemnify the Township employees and public officials for any claim brought arising out of the official duties of the public employee and public official to the extent as provided under N.J.S.A. 59:10-4.
This chapter shall take effect immediately upon adoption and publication in accordance with law.
