This act shall apply to all persons over the age of 18 who have been convicted of a violation of any crime against a minor as listed in N.J.S.A. 2C:7-2, and who as a result of said conviction is required to register with the proper authorities pursuant to N.J.S.A. 2C:7-1 et seq. "Registration and Notification of Release of Certain Offenders" and said persons shall not be permitted to reside or live within 2,500 feet of any school, park, playground (defined as any public lands and/or area where recreational activities take place) or day care center in the township.
A person who resides or lives within 2,500 feet of any school, park, playground or day care center in the township shall have 60 days from receipt of written notice of the prohibition set forth herein to move. Failure to move to a location, which is in compliance with this chapter within that time period, shall constitute a violation of this chapter.
This chapter shall not apply to a person who has established a residence prior to August 16, 2005.
Any violation of this chapter shall be punishable by one or more of the penalties contained herein: a fine of not less than $200, nor more than $500; imprisonment for a term not exceeding 180 days; a period of community service not exceeding 60 days. Each 24 hour period shall constitute a separate offense and a person need not be charged with each separate offense to be punished for the same.
