Town of Thompson, CT Article I Disposition of Town-Owned Real Estate

§ 102-1 Authority to sell, lease or dispose of property.

The Select Board is hereby authorized to sell, lease, or otherwise dispose of Town owned real estate property subject to the following conditions:

A. Any real estate having a fair market value in excess of $1,000 shall not be disposed of without the advice and consent of the Town Planning and Zoning Commission. In any situation in which it appears that any Town department may be able to use such real estate property for the benefit of the Town, the Planning and Zoning Commission shall recommend that such property be retained.

B. In those situations where the Planning and Zoning Commission approves disposition and it is proposed to permanently transfer such real estate property, the Selectpersons shall publish a notice soliciting bids for any proposed sale.

C. The approval of the voters at a Town Meeting will be required to override the recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission in approving or denying a proposed disposition.
