Pursuant to the provisions of General Municipal Law § 187, the appropriate officer of the Town of Waterford is authorized to issue licenses for games of chance to be operated in the Village of Waterford.
This chapter shall not take effect until 30 days after its adoption or until approved by an affirmative vote of the qualified electors of the village voting on such proposition for its approval if, within 30 days after its adoption, there is filed with the Village Clerk a petition signed and acknowledged by electors of the village in number equal to at least 20% of such electors in the village protesting against such act or resolution and requesting that it be submitted to the electors of the village for their approval or disapproval.[1]
