Charter Ordinance No. 4, combining the offices of Village Clerk
and Village Treasurer, and Charter Ordinance No. 7, regarding appointment
of the combined office of Village Clerk-Treasurer, are hereby repealed.
Following the effective date of this charter ordinance, the
Village Board, by a majority vote of its members, shall appoint a
Village Clerk and a Village Treasurer to serve a term commencing upon
appointment and ending April 30, 2018, pursuant to § 61.197(1)(c),
Wis. Stats. Thereafter, the Village Board, by a majority vote of its
members, shall annually appoint a Village Clerk and Village Treasurer
for a term commencing May 1 and ending April 30, pursuant to § 61.197(1)(c),
Wis. Stats.
The respective duties of the Village Clerk and the Village Treasurer
shall be those required by statute or ordinance or direction of the
Village Board.
The Village Board shall set the salary for the Village Clerk
and the Village Treasurer, giving consideration to the required duties
and the experience and skill of the persons appointed.
This is a charter ordinance and shall take effect 60 days after
its passage and publication, unless within such 60 days a referendum
petition shall be filed as provided by § 66.0101(5), Wis.
Stats.; in which event this article shall not take effect until submitted
to a referendum and approved by a majority of the electors voting
thereon.
The Village Clerk-Treasurer shall cause this charter ordinance
to be published as a Class 1 notice, under Ch. 985, Wis. Stats., and
shall file a certified copy of this charter ordinance with the Secretary
of State.
