[HISTORY: Adopted by the North Wildwood City Council 4-3-1923 by Ord. No. 174]
In pursuance of an Act of the Legislature of the State of New Jersey, Laws of 1886, Page 233, Laws of 1904, Page 393, and an Act entitled "An Act Concerning Municipalities," approved 1917, and the several supplements thereto and the amendments thereof,[1] there is hereby created and established a Board of Commissioners of Assessment in and for the City of North Wildwood, with all the duties, powers and requisites conferred by law upon such boards.

The said Board shall consist of three members, freeholders of the said city, not employees thereof, appointed by the Mayor, who shall hold office for the term of one year. They shall organize annually by selecting from among their own number a President, Vice President and a Secretary.
The compensation fixed for each member shall be the sum of $5, for all the work included in each and every ordinance, requiring the assessment of benefits accruing against abutting properties; said compensation shall be included in the proper charges in their report to Common Council covering such assessment; the same shall be paid to said Commissioners at or after confirmation of said report, when proper vouchers therefor shall have been filed.
