Pursuant to § 11 of the Uniform Fire Safety Act (P.L.
1983, c. 383), the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code shall be locally enforced
in the Township of Franklin.
The local enforcing agency shall be the Bureau of Fire Prevention
of the Township of Franklin, which is hereby created.
The local enforcing agency shall enforce the Uniform Fire Safety
Act and the codes and regulations adopted under it in those
buildings and structures as are designated in the New Jersey Uniform
Fire Code and shall faithfully comply with the requirements of the
Uniform Fire Safety Act and the Uniform Fire Code.
The local enforcing agency established by §
218-10 of this article shall carry out the periodic inspections of life-hazard uses required by the Uniform Fire Code on behalf of the Commissioner of Community Affairs.
Permit fees established by the Bureau of Fire Prevention in
the Township of Franklin for special activities and operations shall
be enforced and adhere to the fee schedule as outlined in the New
Jersey Uniform Fire Code, N.J.A.C. 5:70-2.9(c).
Technical amendments to the Code may be passed by amendments
to this article, but such technical amendments must not be less than
the minimum requirements established by the New Jersey Uniform Fire
Code.
All nonprofit organization shall be exempt from paying permit
fees as long as these structures are not rented out to the general
public for its use.
