There is hereby created the position of the Municipal Public Defender of the Township of Wyckoff. The Municipal Public Defender or Defenders shall be appointed by the Township Committee, and their duties shall be to defend such cases as are designated by the Municipal Judge of the Wyckoff Municipal Court.
The term of office shall be for one year and shall expire on January 1 next following such appointment.
The salary of the Municipal Public Defenders shall be as provided in the Annual Salary Ordinance.[1]

Any person applying for representation by a Municipal Public Defender shall pay an application fee to the Municipal Court of not more than $200. The Municipal Court Judge may waive any required application fee, in whole or in part, if the Court determines in its discretion that the application fee represents an unreasonable burden upon the person seeking representation.
