That certain map entitled "House Numbering Map of the City of
Avalon", prepared by the City Engineer and filed with the City Clerk
on August 1, 1919, is hereby adopted and approved as the house numbering
map of the City, and all houses, buildings, and premises in the City
shall be numbered in accordance therewith.

It shall be the duty of all persons owning or having the possession
or control of any buildings, houses or premises in the City to place,
or cause to be placed, thereon the appropriate number therefor in
accordance with the house numbering map. Such number shall be displayed
in a conspicuous place, visible from the public right-of-way. Effective
May 1, 1988, all buildings, houses, or premises in the City not displaying
a number shall be required to display such number in figures not less
than four inches in height and with sufficient color contrast so as
to be visible from a distance of 20 feet. If such buildings, houses,
or premises are located on an alley, the street address shall also
be displayed on the rear of such structures. Notwithstanding the foregoing,
all buildings, houses or premises fronting on Crescent shall be exempt
from these premises.

It shall be the duty of the City Clerk to furnish upon request
the appropriate number for any house, building, or premises in the
City in accordance with the house numbering map. Such number shall
be furnished on a form supplied by the City Clerk and shall contain
a description of such house, building, or premises sufficient to identify
the location thereof on the house numbering map.

It shall be unlawful for any person to place, or cause to be
placed, or to permit or allow to remain on any building, house, or
premises belonging to such person or in his possession or control
any number other than the appropriate number designated therefor on
the house numbering map.
