It is the policy of the Borough of Cheswick to prohibit sexual
harassment and make reasonable efforts to maintain a working environment
free from sexual harassment.
As used in this article, the following terms shall have the
meanings indicated:
SEXUAL HARASSMENT
Includes:
A.
Unwelcome sexual advances;
B.
Requests for sexual attention as a condition of employment;
and/or
C.
Other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature, where:
(1)
There is an attempt to make submission to such conduct a term
or condition of an individual's employment; or
(2)
The submission or rejection of such conduct is used as a basis
for employment-related decisions; or
D.
Such conduct has the purpose or effect of substantially interfering
with an individual's work performance or creating an intimidating,
hostile or offensive work environment.
An employee who feels he/she is a victim of sexual harassment
should bring the matter to the attention of his/her supervisor. If
the employee is uncomfortable in discussing that matter with his/her
supervisor, the employee should report the matter to the Council member
responsible for the department where the employee is assigned. All
allegations of sexual harassment will be promptly investigated in
as confidential a manner as possible. Based upon findings and recommendations,
appropriate corrective action shall be taken if the allegations are
substantiated.
If it is determined that any employee has engaged in sexual
harassment in violation of this policy, he/she will be subject to
appropriate disciplinary action, including termination.
