[Adopted by Ord. No. 794 (Sec. 25-4 of the 1997 Revised General Ordinances)]
N.J.S.A. 40A:14-26 et seq. and N.J.S.A. 40A:14-156 et seq. authorize the establishment of mutual aid agreements with respect to emergency services. By Ordinance No. 728, adopted on September 3, 1987, City Council authorized a mutual aid agreement with neighboring municipalities and fire districts.[1]

A. 
The City of Cape May and the United States Coast Guard, which operates several facilities within the municipal boundaries of the City, including the USCG Training Center, jointly desire to update previous understandings and formally adopt a mutual aid agreement for fire assistance between the two jurisdictions whenever requested during an emergency situation in the interest of public safety, health and general welfare.
B. 
The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute mutual aid agreements and any related agreements required to effectuate the determination herein made, these agreements to be in a form approved by the City Solicitor.
