Any sewer account becoming delinquent for 30
days or more shall carry interest at a rate as prescribed by N.J.S.A.
40A:26A-17, and any sewer account becoming delinquent for six months
or more shall be subject to disconnection.
Not less than 45 days prior to disconnection,
the record owner whose name or names appears on the tax duplicate
in the office of the City Assessor shall be notified of the proposed
disconnection by certified mail, return receipt requested, and regular
mail. The City Tax Collector shall notify the City Clerk who will
then prepare and send out the notice. The City Clerk shall provide
a list of proposed disconnections to the Mayor and Council at the
next subsequent City meeting.
If the outstanding arrearage is not satisfied
within 45 days from the date of the notice, and if no hardship waiver
has been granted, then the North Wildwood Sewer Department may disconnect
the delinquent sewer service.
Any sewer service which is disconnected pursuant
to this article may be reconnected upon application of the record
owner upon payment of the following:
A. All outstanding real estate taxes and sewer delinquencies.
B. A reconnection fee as follows:
(2) Second and all subsequent offenses: $800.
The North Wildwood Sewer Department shall notify
the Cape May County Health Department, the North Wildwood Board of
Health and the North Wildwood Clerk of each and every disconnection,
and subsequent reconnection, which it effectuates, and the City Clerk
shall notify the Tax Collector.
