No person, firm, corporation or association shall conduct or operate a billiard room, poolroom, or bowling alley within the City of Hayward without first having obtained a license therefor as provided in this chapter.
A. 
The applicant for such license shall file with the City Clerk/Treasurer his written application therefor in which he shall designate by street and number the rooms or building in which he proposes to operate such billiard rooms, pool room, or bowling alley.
B. 
He shall pay to the City Clerk/Treasurer as the annual license fee the sum of $20 for the first billiard table, pool table, or bowling alley and $10 for each additional billiard table, pool table, or bowling alley. That is, if the applicant operates one billiard table, one pool table and one bowling alley, the annual license would be $40.
C. 
The applicant shall deposit with the application the City Clerk/Treasurer's receipt for his annual license fee.
D. 
The license shall be granted by the Common Council and signed by the Mayor and City Clerk/Treasurer.
E. 
All licenses under this chapter shall be in effect from July 1 through June 30 of each year unless sooner revoked.

F. 
Any license granted under this chapter may be revoked by the Common Council for the violation of any of its provisions.
Any person, firm corporation or association who shall violate any of the provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be punished by fine of not less than $25 or more than $100 and the cost of prosecution or by imprisonment in the county jail for not less than 10 nor more than 90 days.
