In accordance with RSA 154:18, the Fire Chief/Fire Warden of
the Town of Raymond establishes the following regulations for the
burning of domestic waste and the kindling of fires in the Town of
Raymond.
Purpose: to prohibit the burning of trash, garbage, or of any
other combustible domestic waste so to protect the health and well-being
of the citizens of Town of Raymond.
As used in this article, the following terms shall have the
meanings indicated:
COMBUSTIBLE DOMESTIC WASTE
Any combustible waste, such as but not limited to household
trash, packaging materials, plastics, coated or laminated papers,
rubber, painted or treated wood, or treated cardboard, oily rags,
and animal, vegetable, and kitchen waste. The term does not include
untreated wood, leaves, brush or paper products generated at a residence.
PERSON
All natural persons, corporations, business entities, clubs,
or organizations of any sort.
It shall be no defense that a prohibited fire under this article
was caused by an act of God, set by vandals, or was accidental when
the offender has allowed or suffered the accumulation of combustible
domestic waste on his/her property.
Burning with prior written approval of the Raymond Fire Chief
and/or the authority having jurisdiction may be authorized for the
following:
A. Emergency burning of spilled petroleum products when all reasonable
efforts to recover the spilled materials have been made and failure
to burn such would result in an imminent fire hazard or public safety
hazard.
B. Burning
for the purpose of fire training.
C. Burning
of material as a result of a natural disaster.
D. Burning
of highly explosive or other dangerous materials for which no alternative
disposal method exists, or where transportation of such materials
is impossible.
E. Any other
burning which the Raymond Fire Chief believes to be in the public
interest.
F. Untreated
wood, leaves, paper products generated at a residence or brush.
