There is hereby created and established for the Village a Board of Health.
A. 
A Health Officer shall be appointed annually as of May 1 of each year by the President and with the consent of the Board of Trustees. He is responsible to the President and the Board of Trustees for the efficient administration and enforcement of health and sanitation regulations in the Village, as well as the health and sanitation laws of the State of Illinois and the health and sanitation ordinances of the County of Cook. The Health Officer shall be experienced in the administration of public health matters. He need not be a resident of the Village.
B. 
The President, with the consent of the Board of Trustees of the Village, may appoint seven adult individuals who are residents of the Village to the Board of Health.
C. 
A member of the Board of Health must hold a certificate in Food Service Sanitation as outlined by the State of Illinois Department of Public Health.
D. 
The seven adult residents together with the Health Officer shall comprise and constitute the Board of Health of the Village.
E. 
If any salary or fee is to be paid to the Health Officer or any of his agents, such salary or fee is to be determined by the rules and regulations set forth by the Board of Health.
A. 
The Board of Health shall have the powers to perform the duties assigned to it by statute or ordinance. It shall be the duty of the Board of Health to enforce all ordinances of the Village which relate to the public health, or relate to nuisances.
B. 
The Board of Health shall make all necessary rules and regulations for the protection of the health of the inhabitants of the Village, and to guarantee against the spread of contagious diseases and to prevent by necessary rules, the induction of disease, contagious or otherwise, within the corporate limits of the Village.
