The Building Department, under the supervision of the Code Enforcement Officer/Building Inspector, appointed as specified in §
200-7 of this Administrative Code, shall administer the following: Zoning and Building inspections. Professional and clerical staff may be recommended by the Code Enforcement Officer/Building Inspector and approved by the Town Manager.
The Code Enforcement Officer/Building Inspector shall be responsible
for the following functions:
A. Act in the capacity of advisor to the Planning Board.
B. Investigate, study, report, and recommend on all matters relating
to land use, zoning, traffic, parking, highways, public facilities,
population, subdivisions, site reviews and other related phases of
Town planning.
C. Perform all research work which might be assigned by the Town Manager,
Board of Selectmen, Planning Board, Board of Adjustment and Conservation
Commission.
D. Investigate, study and report on all matters relating to the construction
of municipal structures.
E. Be responsible for interpretation of the zoning ordinances, answering
questions asked by the public concerning uses in all zones and investigating
all complaints made concerning zoning.
F. Enforce all rules and regulations relating to zoning or building
codes as may be established by the Planning Board or Zoning Board
of Adjustment.
G. Issue building and related permits and inspect construction for compliance
with local laws, zoning regulations and building codes.
H. Inspect new construction, remodeling and land use for conformity
with zoning, building and related codes.
I. Prosecute all violations of law and codes within its jurisdiction.
J. Prepare and maintain all records of all permits issued monthly.
K. Assist the Town Manager in applying for, receiving and processing
all grants relating to community development.
L. Investigate, study and report on all matters relating to overall
community development.
M. Perform all other related functions as required.
