It shall be unlawful to manufacture, keep, use, store or handle for any purpose whatsoever any gunpowder, fireworks, dynamite, munitions and other dangerous and combustible articles within the corporate limits of the City of Perth Amboy without having first obtained a permit so to do from the Mayor of the City of Perth Amboy.
The Mayor of the City of Perth Amboy is hereby authorized and empowered to issue permits, in his discretion and subject to such rules and regulations as the Council may at any time adopt, for the manufacturing, keeping, using, storing or handling of gunpowder, fireworks, dynamite, munitions and other dangerous and combustible articles within the corporate limits of the City of Perth Amboy, and to enforce the provisions of this chapter and to revoke such permits whenever, in his judgment and after a fair and impartial hearing, conditions become hazardous. In all cases where such permits are not revoked, they shall remain in full force and effect not to exceed a period of one (1) year.
Any person or persons, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this chapter or the provisions of any permit issued in conformity herewith shall, upon conviction, be punishable by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($500) or by imprisonment for not more than ninety (90) days, or both, and each day that a violation exists shall be deemed to constitute a separate offense.
