Hereafter no person, firm or corporation shall conduct or carry in their place of business any mechanical machines for the production of music, including Victrolas, orchestrelles, player pianos, music vending machines and other such instruments, whether electrically operated or not, operated, maintained or used in any public or quasi-public place or in any building, store or other place wherein the public are invited or wherein the public may enter, and particularly, but not by way of limitation, all coin-operated music vending machines, Victrolas, orchestrelles or player pianos operated, maintained or used as aforesaid, unless such person, firm or corporation shall first have obtained a license for that purpose from the Council of the City of Perth Amboy.
A license fee of twenty-five dollars ($25) shall be charged per year for one (1) location for each mechanical machine for the production of music, Victrola, orchestrelle, player piano, music vending machine as hereinbefore described. Such license shall be issued as of the calendar year and shall be effective for such period of time. In case of a license issued on or after August 1 of each year hereafter, only one-half (1/2) of the above fee shall be paid.

Each music vending machine shall have a metal license tag, issued by the City of Perth Amboy, bearing a serial number, posted and attached in a conspicuous place on such music vending machine.
An application in writing shall be filed with the City Clerk for any new license or renewal thereof, stating the full name of the applicant, description of the place of business to be licensed and the location of such mechanical machines for the production of music as herein more fully set forth.
An application in writing shall be filed with the Chief of Police of the City of Perth Amboy for the transfer or removal of any mechanical machine for the production of music, as herein more fully set forth, from place to place, licensed under the provisions hereof, and the transfer of any license from one place to another shall state the full name of the applicant, description of his place of business and the proposed location of such mechanical machines for the production of music as herein more fully set forth. The Chief of Police is hereby authorized to issue a written authority for any such change or transfer.
A license may be refused or revoked when required by public interest.
The Chief of Police shall have supervision over all licensed places of such mechanical machines for the production of music as herein more fully set forth, and the members of the Perth Amboy Police Department shall report from time to time all violations of this chapter.
Any person or persons violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be punishable by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($500) or by imprisonment for not more than ninety (90) days, or both, and each day that this chapter is violated shall be considered a separate and distinct offense.
