A Tri-District Fire Advisory Council is hereby established within the Township of Monroe for the purpose of discussing matters relating to the fire districts within the Township and advising the governing body on a semi-annual basis as to all matters relating to fire prevention within the Township.
The Tri-District Fire Advisory Council shall consist of nine members, one of whom shall be the Fire Chief of District 1, or his or her designee; one of whom shall be the Fire Chief of District 2, or his or her designee, one of whom shall be the Fire Chief of District 3, or his or her designee; one of whom shall be the Chief of Police; one representative from each of the respective Boards of Fire Commissioners; one of whom shall be a member of the Township Council appointed by a majority of the Township Council; and one of whom shall be appointed by the Mayor.
At its first meeting, the Tri-District Fire Advisory Council shall elect a Chairman. The members of the Tri-District Fire Advisory Council who are Fire Chiefs shall serve as members of the Council for so long as they serve as Fire Chiefs. The members of the Tri-District Fire Advisory Council who serve on their respective Board of Fire Commissioners shall each serve terms of two years and the members of the Tri-District Fire Advisory Council to be appointed by the Mayor and Township Council shall serve for a term of two years.
Any vacancy in the membership shall be filled by the relative appointing authority.
