The Lebanon Authority was established under provisions of Act of June 28, 1935 (P.L. 463), as amended by Act of 1937 (P.L. 739) and by Act of 1945 (P.L. 3821) and by Act of 1949 (P.L. 187) by resolution of Council, passed July 19, 1935. Under provisions of Ordinance 42-1944, 45, passed November 15, 1945, the Authority was given power to acquire title to the City water works and water distribution system; Ordinance 52-1944, 45, passed December 28, 1945, authorized sale of such properties by the City to the Authority; Ordinance 53-1944, 45, passed December 28, 1945, authorized the City to operate the water works and water distribution system as lessee with the Authority as lessor. Ordinance 7-1948, 49, passed February 20, 1948, authorized financing of the High Bridge water project. Ordinance 10-1960, 61, passed March 28, 1960, amended the Authority’s articles of incorporation and provided for capital improvements to the water system and sewage treatment plant and conveyed the City’s sewage treatment plant and sewer system to the Authority.
Ordinance 25-1980, 81, passed May 16, 1980, authorizes the proper City officials to execute a lease termination agreement with the City of Lebanon Authority, and Ordinance 26-1980, 81, passed May 16, 1980, authorizes a Management and Consulting Services Agreement whereby the City shall provide such services with respect to the water system.
Ordinance 56-1988, 89, passed June 15, 1989, terminated a lease agreement dated August 1, 1977 between the City of Lebanon Authority as lessor and the City of Lebanon as lessee, and authorized an escrow agreement to provide for the retirement of outstanding sewer revenue bonds of the City of Lebanon Authority.
