There is hereby created the office of Village Attorney. The
Village Attorney shall be appointed by the Village President, with
the consent of the Board of Trustees.

The Village Attorney shall be paid such sum as is set in the
annual appropriation ordinance for his general services and advice.
For services rendered in the conduct of suits, bonding problems and
other problems requiring unusual expenditure of time not contemplated
in the duties enumerated above, he shall receive such additional compensation
based upon the fair and reasonable value of such services.

The Village Attorney shall be a legal advisor to the President
and the Trustees, and shall render advice on all legal questions affecting
the Village whenever requested to do so by the President or the Trustees.
Upon request, he shall reduce such opinion to writing. He shall draw
such ordinances, deeds, leases and other papers as may be required
of him by the President and Trustees. He shall attend meetings of
the Village Board. He shall prosecute or defend any and all suits
or actions at law or in equity to which the Village may be a party
or in which it may be interested, or which may be brought against
it or by any officer of the Village on behalf of the Village or in
the capacity of such person as an officer or employee of the Village.
It shall be the duty of the Village Attorney to take such action as
may be necessary to accomplish the full enforcement of all judgments
and decrees rendered or entered in favor of the Village.
