There is hereby created the office of the Superintendent of Public Works.

The Superintendent of Public Works shall be appointed by the President of the Village, with the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees. He shall have the following basic qualifications:
A. 
Minimum five years' experience in public works.
B. 
State of Illinois Class "B" public water supply operator certificate of competency.
C. 
Basic knowledge of all streets and alleys located in the Village.
D. 
Basic knowledge of the divisions enumerated in § 2-2A-2 of this chapter.
E. 
Basic knowledge of the operation of all Village owned mechanical equipment.
F. 
Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and water and sewer atlases.
G. 
Working knowledge of State of Illinois Motor Fuel Tax Funds as they apply to the Village.

The compensation of the Superintendent of Public Works shall be set in the appropriation ordinance.

A. 
General Duties. The Superintendent of Public Works shall have immediate supervision and control of the various divisions of the Public Works Department as the Village specified in § 2-2A-2 of this chapter.
B. 
Report. On or before July 1st of each year, the Superintendent of Public Works shall make a report to the President and Board of Trustees of the activities for the preceding fiscal year, together with such recommendations as may be appropriate.
