The Bureau of Health of the City is hereby dissolved and the
following functions thereof are hereby transferred and subjected to
the jurisdiction of the Department of Health of the County of Erie,
in accordance with the provisions of Act. No. 315, (Local Health Administration
Law) of the Pennsylvania Legislature, as amended and supplemented.
(a) Administration Division, including the Erie City Health Director,
two clinical physicians; a senior clerk; nursing services performed
by the Visiting Nurse Association; laboratory services; public health
education and dental services provided to the City of Erie parochial
schools.
(b) Division of Communicable Diseases, including sanitarians and the
Director of Environmental Sanitation.

The following functions of the Bureau of Health of the City
are hereby retained and transferred to the Department of Public Safety,
Health-Housing Division, as relating and being essential only to programs
of the City's Model Cities Agency, the Redevelopment Authority
of the City and the office of City Planning and Zoning:
(a) Division of Housing Inspection and Rodent Control and Division of
Plumbing.

Any employee of the Bureau of Health of the City, whose position
and employment with the City, are eliminated by this chapter, who
shall hereafter be employed by the Department of Health of the County
of Erie and who is a member of the City Retirement System, shall have
the right to retain his membership in the Retirement System of the
City, in accordance with the provisions of Act. No. 567 of the Pennsylvania
Legislature approved May 24, 1956.
