[HISTORY: Adopted by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Pine Beach 2-11-1992 by Ord. No. 92-01-422. Amendments noted where applicable.]
This chapter may be known as the "Returned Check Ordinance."
Whenever a check payable to any account of the Borough of Pine Beach or the Pine Beach Municipal Court is returned for insufficient funds, a service charge shall be added to the account. The amount of the service charge will be determined by a resolution of the Mayor and Council. The service charge shall be paid and credited before any other payment on the account is accepted and credited.
Any unpaid service charges shall become delinquent and, when applicable, a lien against property to be enforced in the same manner as other liens.
Any person whose returned checks become chronic, as determined by the Chief Financial Officer and the Tax Collector, Utility Clerk or Municipal Court Administrator, may thereafter be required to pay in cash or by certified or cashier's check.
