As used in this article certain terms are defined as follows:
Any person, firm, association or corporation applying for
and to whom a permit to drill or who has a drilled well may be issued.
A device, approved by the Bureau of Water installed on the
applicant's water system to prevent any possible flow back into
the City's water system.
Any physical connection or arrangement between two otherwise
separate piping systems, one of which contains potable water and the
other water of unknown or questionable safety, whereby there may be
a flow from one system to the other, the directions depending on the
pressure differential between the two systems.
A pit or hole sunk into the earth to reach a supply of water.

(a)
Application for a well permit shall be made to the Bureau of Water.
Each application shall be accompanied by plans showing the location
of the proposed well and shall indicate the size, depth and quantity
of the proposed well.
(b)
Registration of all existing wells in the City shall be made with
the Bureau. Such registration shall include the following information:
location, size, depth and quantity of the well. In the event of a
change in status of an existing well, notice of change shall be made
to the Bureau.

The applicant prior to issuance of the permit shall pay a fee
of $5. There shall be no charge for registration of a well which existed
prior to the date of final passage of this section.

A ground water source or pump suction line shall not be located
closer to potential sources of contamination than the distance indicated
in Section P-1704.2 of the BOCA Basic Plumbing Code.

Any property with both a well supply and a public water supply
shall have a backflow preventer installed on the public water supply
system.

All construction, plumbing, piping, etc. shall comply to all
regulations of the Bureau of Water and all City Building, Plumbing,
and Electrical Codes.

Whoever violates any of the provisions of this article shall
be fined not less than $300 and/or imprisoned not more than 90 days.
