There shall be and hereby is created and established a local Board of Health in and for the Borough of Lawnside in the County of Camden, to be known as the "Board of Health of the Borough of Lawnside."

The Board of Health shall consist of seven members, who shall be appointed by the Mayor by and with the advice and consent of the Borough Council. The persons so appointed shall be citizens of the State of New Jersey and residents in the Borough of Lawnside. Of the members appointed to fill the two vacancies newly created by this amendment, one shall be appointed for a term to expire January 1, 1953 and one shall be appointed for a term to expire January 1, 1954. The terms of members presently serving are not hereby affected. Except as hereinbefore provided, all appointments shall be made for a term of three years. Any vacancies occurring in the membership of said Board of Health shall be filled in the same way as the original appointments were made but for the unexpired terms only. Each member shall, before entering upon the performance of his duties, file with the Clerk of said borough an oath that he will faithfully discharge the duties of his office.
The Board of Health hereby created shall have, exercise and perform all the powers, authority and duties vested in and appertaining to local boards of health under and by virtue of the provisions of an act entitled "An Act to Establish in This State, Boards of Health and a Bureau of Vital Statistics and to Define Their Respective Powers and Duties," approved March 31, 1887, and the several acts amendatory thereof and supplemental thereto.
