A. 
Whereas, the City of Shamokin intends to formally establish an office of City Administrator or Manager; and
B. 
Whereas, the City Administrator or Manager will oversee the daily functions of the City government; and
C. 
Whereas, a City Administrator or Manager shall be appointed to fill such office and may serve under the terms of an employment agreement;
D. 
Therefore, it shall be ordained by the City Council of the City of Shamokin that the office of City Administrator or Manager is created pursuant to the Act of June 23, 1931 (P.L. 932, No. 317), known as the "Third Class City Code," as amended;[1] and

E. 
Furthermore, all other provisions of Article XII-A, titled City Administrator or Manager, as amended from time-to-time, are also adopted, including each of the powers and duties of the position as listed under Section 1205-A, Powers and Duties, as of the adoption of this chapter and as amended from time to time by legislation of the General Assembly of the commonwealth.[2]

All ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with the provisions of this chapter shall be and the same are hereby repealed.
If any provision of this chapter is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions of this chapter shall remain in full force and effect.
This chapter shall become effective immediately upon final adoption.
