From and after the publication of this chapter, it shall be unlawful for any person or persons to drive a motorcycle with loud exhaust over the streets of the City of Shamokin after 11:00 p.m. on any day before 7:00 a.m. Also, it is unlawful to remove baffle plates from any motorcycles and race the motor at any time of the day or night as to cause complaint or disruptive noise.
All motors of motorcycles must be turned off while parked, except when stopping for a stop sign, traffic signal or normal traffic conditions.
A. 
Motorcycles, dirt bikes, ATVs. Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate or fail to comply with any of the provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction before any Magisterial District Judge, be sentenced to pay a fine of not less than $100 and not more than $300 and costs of prosecution and/or suffer imprisonment for up to 90 days, or a combination of both. The continuation of such violation for each successive day shall constitute a new and separate offense and the person or persons allowing the continuation of the violation may be punished as provided above for each separate offense.
Any person or persons using his/her motorcycle for transportation to and from work during the restricted hours must obtain a permit from the City Clerk authorizing use of the vehicle on City Streets.
It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to operate an ATV or dirt bike within the corporate limits of the City of Shamokin. This chapter applies to off-road motor vehicles both licensed and unlicenced. Additionally, it shall be unlawful for any parent, guardian, firm or corporation to permit such violations within the corporate limits of the City of Shamokin. It shall be the duty of the Shamokin City Police Department to notify upon arrest any parent, guardian, firm or corporation of any violations involving a person or persons less than 18 years of age and explain this chapter to them in its entirety. Any subsequent violation of the same offender(s) may result in inclusion of the parent, guardian, firm or corporation for allowing violations to continue. This chapter does not include the use of the above-listed vehicles for City-commissioned/sanctioned emergency situations, parades approved by the City of Shamokin or police usage for specific patrol apprehension programs.
