a. As used in this Article, a pet shop shall mean an establishment containing
a store, room or group of rooms, cages or exhibition pens, not part
of a kennel, wherein birds or animals commonly accepted or regarded
as pets are kept for sale, excluding, however, such places wherein
dogs are kept for sale.
b. No pet shop as herein defined, shall be maintained or conducted in
the City without first obtaining a license therefor from the Director
of the Department of Finance and/or his designee.
c. The requirement of a license under this Article shall be in addition to the licensing requirement for dog shops and kennels pursuant to Section
6:1-41 of this Title.

No license under this Article shall be granted to any bird store
or pet shop unless the requirements of the Division of Community Health
or the Health Officer to insure a sanitary condition of the premises
shall first have been met.

Licenses issued under this Article shall expire annually on
December 31.

The fee for a license issued under this Article shall be $10
per year.

Licenses issued under this Article may be suspended or revoked,
after notice and hearing, by the Director of the Department of Finance
and/or his designee, for cause.
