(A) 
A master key Knox box vault shall be installed in all new commercial and/or industrial buildings constructed after the adoption of this chapter, and/or any such buildings undergoing renovation work in excess of $1,000. Such vaults shall be installed at a location approved by the Borough Fire Marshal.
(B) 
Residential buildings, with the exception of single-family dwellings, that have a common entranceway locked for security reasons, shall also be required to have a Knox box vault installed outside the entrance to any such building.
(C) 
Any building which contains any hazardous material inside, or somewhere on the property, shall install a Knox cabinet style vault to contain any such hazardous material. A floor plan, a site plan and any other chemical information, as well as material safety data sheets, as required by SARA, Title III, shall be provided to the Borough Fire Marshal by the owner and/or tenant of any such building.
(D) 
Knox box key boxes and cabinet vaults shall have a single lock and alarm tamper switches. If a building is protected by a burglar alarm system, the box shall be connected to it so that if the boxes are opened or moved, an alarm will sound. If such building is not protected by an alarm system, the box shall be connected to an independent alarm system which shall operate in the same manner.
(E) 
Knox box key boxes shall provide emergency access to the following areas:
(1) 
Any locked points of ingress or egress, whether on the interior or exterior of a building;
(2) 
Any locked mechanical rooms;
(3) 
Any locked electrical cabinets or rooms;
(4) 
Any elevator controls; and
(5) 
Any other areas as instructed by the Borough Fire Marshal.
