(A) The Mayor shall have the following powers to regulate traffic and
parking temporarily and in times of emergency for a period not to
exceed 48 hours, in addition to the other powers granted to him or
her in this Traffic Code and by other ordinances of the Borough:
(1)
In the case of fire, flood, storm, public disturbance or other
emergency, to establish temporary traffic and parking regulations;
(2)
In the case of emergency or to facilitate public works or in
the case of the conduct of processions and public events, to restrict
or prohibit parking or the flow of traffic upon the public streets
in such areas as are reasonably necessary under the circumstances;
and
(3)
To establish, change and abolish, and to designate by appropriate
markings or signs, crosswalks, traffic lanes and parking spaces.
(B) Such temporary and emergency regulations shall be enforced by the
Mayor and the Police Department in the same manner as permanent regulations
and the provisions of these codified ordinances. No person shall violate
or fail to comply with any of such regulations.

(A) Police officers of the Borough are hereby authorized to direct traffic
on the highways of the Borough and at intersections thereof and to
make necessary arrests in any case when there is a violation of any
of the provisions of this Traffic Code.
(B) No person shall violate or fail to comply with an order or direction
of a police officer made or issued pursuant to this section.

The Brookhaven Fire Marshal, Fire Police Captain and public
fire safety officials are hereby authorized to issue parking tickets
to those who park in fire lanes or too close to fire hydrants.
